Russell Slade could be on collision course with Albion - if the bookies have got it right.

The Seagulls' ex-manager is 7-4 favourite with odds-layers to be appointed by Cardiff, next visitors to the Amex a week tomorrow.

Slade, who has been on the brink of losing his job at Leyton Orient said: " said: “I think they (Cardiff) may have requested permission to talk to me, but I'm uncertain. I'm a little bit in the dark."

Slade rescued Albion from relegation to League Two at Withdean in 2008-09 but was sacked after the Seagulls struggled at the start of the following season.

He was named League One manager of the year at Yeovil and at Orient last season after taking them to the play-off final at Wembley, where they lost in a penalty shoot-out to Rotherham.
