Albion were denied by a David Marshall goalkeeping masterclass as their winless run extended to six games tonight.

The Cardiff goalkeeper – confirmed in the latest Scotland squad earlier in the day – made a string of brilliant second-half saves as his side ground out a 1-1 draw at the Amex.

Boss Sami Hyypia praised what he felt was his side’s best performance so far this season.

But the Seagulls will be kicking themselves for not taking full points.

They ended their 320-minute goal drought in style when right-back Bruno guided a first-time volley over Marshall from an unpromising angle and inside the far post.

But Albion surrendered their hard-earned advantage in poor style.

David Stockdale rushed out to the edge of his area to meet Fabio’s long ball and was beaten to it by Kenwyne Jones, whose brave header bounced gently into the net.

Stockdale partly reprieved himself after the break with a great block from Anthony Pilkington after an error by Lewis Dunk.

But his opposite number really stole the show.

Marshall made stunning saves from impressive attacking left-back Joe Bennett (twice), Dunk and Gary Gardner, all low down.

Albion had strong penalty claims turned down in the last minute of added time when Fabio seemed to drag down Kazenga LuaLua.
