Christian Walton admits he was shocked to be thrown into the heat of cup battle.
But the England under-20s goalkeeper was proud of his efforts as Albion made life tough for Spurs.
Walton stood in for injured David Stockdale and, after catching a dangerous early cross, looked the part.
He said: “Stocko got injured yesterday (on Tuesday) but I didn’t think much of it.
“Then we did a light session in the morning and the gaffer told me I’d be starting.
“It was a bit of a shock to start with but it’s something you’ve got to deal with as a professional footballer and I thought it went well.”
Walton praised the backing given by Stockdale, fellow goalkeeper Casper Ankergren and coach Antti Niemi.
He added: ”Obviously I was quite nervous being 18 but the lads were brilliant.
“Stocko, Casper and Antti were fantastic and the other lads were great as well. That makes it a lot easier.
“It was a great experience.”
