Darren Bent admits his goal celebration backfired as Fulham fans had the last laugh on his Albion debut.

Bent, borrowed by Fulham from Aston Villa last season when they were relegated from the Premier League, ran towards the visiting supporters with his hands by his ears after giving the Seagulls a second-half lead.

The Fulham fans taunted him with chants of ‘Darren, Darren what’s the score’ as their team fought back to win 2-1.

Bent told The Argus: “I got a lot of stick off their supporters, which was kind of unjustified.

“Obviously they went down last year. They are entitled to their opinions and I’m entitled to mine.

“It kind of killed me (losing after leading). Up until we got the goal I couldn’t see them doing anything against us. We play them again soon (December 29) and we’ll have to get revenge then.”

Adrian Colunga, sent-off for two late yellow cards, is banned for Saturday’s trip to leaders Derby.

Albion also have major doubts about two key players after Knee injuries ruled out captain Gordon Greer and forced off Kazenga LuaLua in the first half. Greer had not previously missed a minute of Championship action.

Solly March, who made his comeback as a late substitute from four months out with a stress fracture of the back, is expected to feature for the under-21s against Arsenal at the Amex tonight (7pm).
