Stoke manager Mark Hughes has played down a report from Honduras linking the Premier League club’s midfielder Wilson Palacios with Albion.

Hughes said following his side’s FA Cup tie against Wrexham yesterday that he had not heard of any link with the Seagulls.

A report in Honduras claimed Albion were interested in signing the experienced Palacios to beef up the centre of their midfield.

Stoke have been trying to offload Palacios, who has made only 38 appearances for them since a £6 million move from Spurs in August 2011.

New Albion boss Chris Hughton has emphasised his desire to add more experience in the centre of the park by making several references to a young midfield.

Palacios played for Honduras in the World Cup but has been a peripheral figure at Stoke under both Tony Pulis and now Hughes.

Albion have already been linked with Leeds United's out-of-favour Jamaica midfielder Rodolph Austin.
