Albion boss Chris Hughton says the two-goal show of Inigo Calderon against Birmingham typified the adventurous nature of the swashbuckling Spaniard.

Calderon, pushed forward again into midfield from right-back, struck two second half goals in yesterday's 4-3 victory at the Amex on his 200th appearance for the Seagulls.

Hughton told The Argus: "That's Calde for you. He can have periods of the game where he is perhaps not involved or it's not happening for him but he has real energy.

"His second goal in particular was excellent, because it was one he had to manoeuvre.

"The first one was a great cross from Sam (Baldock) but the second he had to show almost a striker's quality.

"He keeps going. Sometimes he ends up in positions he shouldn't be in and takes chances occasionally.

"Towards the end of the game when we were hanging on Calde finds himself in the left-wing position, which is not something we wanted, but that's what you're going to get with him."

Joao Teixeira also scored twice for Albion, raising the unpredictable on-loan Liverpool playmaker's tally for the season to six.

Hughton said: "That's how he is, I think he is going to float at times in and out of games. He is going to be very good and in periods of a game not do so well but he has ability. He's a creative player and you need those types of players.

"Hopefully with (Emmanuel) Ledesma now as well and Kazenga (LuaLua) it gives us a few more offensive options."
