David Stockdale has called on Albion to improve their defending at the Amex tonight as they attempt to complete a double against Leeds United, the club he grew up supporting.

The 4-3 win against Birmingham on Saturday was the third home match in a row in which Albion have conceded three goals after losing to Nottingham Forest in the Championship and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

In the game before they let in two when they edged out Ipswich. So Stockdale's delight at saving a penalty from Birmingham's Paul Caddis on the stroke of half-time when the score was 1-1 was tainted by the late shots on the turn from substitutes Wesley Thomas and Lee Novak which kept Saturday's contest alive when Albion should have been out of sight.

Stockdale told The Argus: "We made it hard for ourselves. Again that's why we are disappointed. We let them turn in the box and you can't let them do that.

"We've done it too often, like Ipswich. We let them back in the game. It's just not good enough. The first goal wasn't special but we let them get back into it and we just need to stop doing it.

"We keep saying it and we need to learn otherwise we'll keep getting punished. You are not going to save a penalty every week and you are not going to score four goals and you are going to come away with a defeat you don't think you should have had."
