Chris Hughton hailed his most satisfying performance since taking charge of Albion after a convincing 2-0 win at home to in-form Leeds United.

The victory stretched Albion’s unbeaten run to four games and made it four wins and two draws in nine Championship games since Hughton was appointed.

The Albion boss said: “I thought we were very good in the Ipswich game and got three goals there but I think the clean sheet meant a lot tonight. We went from two clean sheets to a fairly open game at the weekend.

“Probably the only negative was that we could have made it more convincing. We got into some really good areas, we broke very well but these are a good team in good form. They have a lot of energy in the team so probably this was our best performance.”

Hughton was pleased with the contribution of the recalled Craig Mackail-Smith.

He added: “I thought he did well when he came on at the weekend and we got the right effect when he came on. I was delighted with his performance tonight.”
