GARAGE DATE DRIVE-By Argument are shaping up to make 2007 their own, with the release of their first proper single, The Sega Method, on the Lizard King label next week. The band have a UK tour which includes a show at The Garage on March 5, and they are on top form after their recent support slot with Panic! At The Disco at Brixton Academy.

MYSPACE FAVOURITES Currently hard at work on their debut album, AudioAlysis headline at the ABC2 next week. The band's support has been gaining momentum on MySpace, and they're optimistic that things will start to take off in 2007. Their line-up is: Michael Oakley on vocals and keyboards, Stuart Scott on guitars, Chris McGuire on bass and Stephen McLay on drums. CAPITOL CELEBRATION GLASGOW quintet Acute Riot release their debut single next week, with a hometown gig to celebrate on Friday, March 9. BACK TO PUNK OLD school punks Fire Exit play the Barfly on March 9, supporting veterans The Vibrators on a bill that also includes The Zips. The band are gearing up for some dates in May, including the Amsterdam leg of the Rebellion punk festival on May 19 and 20, where they join UK Subs, The Exploited, Chelsea, Subhumans, Conflict, The Lurkers, Splodgenessabounds and Goldblade. There's also a date at the Punk Aid festival in London on May 25-27, with The Damned, Members, Anti-Flag and TV Smith. Tickets for the Barfly show are £8, doors 8pm.

AMY'S ON SONG LOOK out for new Glasgow singer Amy MacDonald. The 19-year-old, who has been writing songs since she was 12, is being tipped for stardom after signing a deal with Vertigo Record label. Her first single, Poison Prince, is out as a download on April 9, with a full release to follow on May 9, and her album - which was mixed in LA by Bob Clearmountain, who has worked with The Rolling Stones, Elton John, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Robbie Williams - is set for release later in the year. Citing Travis, Razorlight, Bowie and Michael Jackson as influences, the songs on the album include one titled Barrowland Ballroom, with others including Footballers' Wives, Mr Rock 'n' Roll, This Is The Life and Let's Start A Band.
