DEFIANT defender John Robertson has made clear there will be no re-run of the Late, Late Show when Partick Thistle take on Livingston.

Robertson and his Jags team-mates are still smarting from Ross County's equaliser, scored in the fourth minute of injury-time last weekend.

That finale brought back painful memories of the collapses that Thistle have suffered against Livi both at home and away this season.

Dick Campbell's men lost 3-2 at Firhill at the beginning of their seven- game winless run in December and drew 2-2 at Almondvale in August.

However, John is confident the new players the Partick gaffer has brought in during the January transfer window will help halt their slide down the First Division table.

Dick has snapped up former fans' favourite Alan Archibald, ex-Dundee skipper Barry Smith, and Mark McChrystal from Ireland.

Robertson said: "There has been a few changes at the club. Archie came in last Saturday and did really well.

"He brings a wealth of experience with him as Barry does, too.

"In fact, I would say the back four against County last week was probably the most experienced we have fielded in my time here at Thistle.

"To lose a goal to them in 94 minutes was pretty disappointing as I thought we were looking solid together right up until that point.

"We really restricted the number of scoring chances that Ross County had.

"If we can maintain that then we know the results will come. We certainly have the guys who can score goals."

John added: "We've lost late goals in the two matches that we have played against Livingston so far this season.

"In our first game at their ground, we came from 1-0 behind to lead 2-1 and then they scored at the death. The same thing happened here at the end of the year.

"We have been unfortunate of late. But if we can stop losing late goals in games then I think we would be quite a bit higher up the league table.

"We are all fit enough and certainly aren't switching off at the end of games. Losing late goals isn't preying on our minds one little bit.

"Having said that, as it has happened against Livingston a couple of times this season, we need to make sure that it doesn't happen to us again."

The 30-year-old player has warned his team- mates they will need to pay close attention to Lee Makel to get their first win of the season against John Robertson's side.

John agreed: "Lee is a real talent who has played in the SPL and at a good level down in England. He really makes things tick for them.

"Lee was very good for Livingston in the Scottish Cup game against Celtic recently and helped put them ahead for a bit in the first half.

"He is good on the ball and can dictate the tempo of matches if you let him. But we have players in the middle of the park who can take care of him."

Robbo also admitted the chance to play in the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Dunfermline next week could spur the Jags to their first league win in over two months.

He said: "First, we need to take care of Livingston tomorrow. But the Scottish Cup game is a huge one for this football club.

"There are places up for grabs in that match. We all know if we don't perform against Livingston, then we will be out of the team for the cup game."
