PUPILS at a Glasgow school are preparing to meet their new classmates ... in Africa.
A group of students and teachers from Govan High School leave on Wednesday for Malawi to visit their partner school for the first time.
For the past eight months youngsters have been corresponding with Milonde Community Day School in Mulanje.
It's hoped a long-term link will be established between the two schools.
The Scottish pupils will attend classes and teachers will teach in a Malawian classroom.
Teachers and students from Malawi will pay a return visit to Glasgow in June.
Govan High teacher Nancy Belford said: "Having the chance to spend time in a Malawian school truly is a life-changing experience.
"During my first visit there I was able to learn from the creativity of the teachers and I was impressed by how they cope with classes of up to 140 pupils and very few resources.
"Establishing a partnership with Milonde makes teaching global citizenship so much more relevant and meaningful.
"Giving pupils the opportunity to interact with pupils from Malawi increases their motivation and interest."
