TWO schoolgirl accordionists get tuned up to compete at one of the city's premier music festivals.

Rebekah Mitchell, 12, and Kirsten McSporran, 16, are seasoned musicians and have won a number of competition prizes for their "squeezebox" playing.

Both are pupils at Paisley's Gleniffer High School and have been inducted into the school's Hall of Fame for achieving excellence in their music.

The girls, pictured on the steps of Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, before they compete in Glasgow Music Festival, have been successful in the past.

They finished second in this year's instrumental duets.

Rebekah also finished second in the classical accordion solos section.

They have also competed in the UK Accordion Championships.

More than 7000 competitors, mostly youngsters, have been showing their talents at the festival, which is in its 95th year.

It is set to run until Saturday and a full results service will be carried daily in the Evening Times. Festival results
