I WAS delighted for my good friend John Collins that Hibs managed to romp to a 5-1 win in the CIS Insurance Cup Final against Kilmarnock. John gave everything as a player and I know how hard he works at Easter Road to get things right as a manager.

Tony Mowbray left behind a very good Hibs side when he joined West Bromwich Albion last year and John has a lot to thank him for. However, nothing should be taken away from John. He is a shrewd customer and the players have clearly responded to his coaching in recent months.

Very often a dressing room can turn on a new manager and reject his ideas and methods. That has not been the case at Hibs.

John has definite ideas about how the game should be played. He has also got great back-up in former Celtic coach Tommy Craig.

Hibs now have the chance to complete the CIS and Scottish Cup double.

I wouldn't bet against them.
