FIJI: The military-led government today rejected demands to return the country to civilian rule within two years.
Fiji's rulers said elections could not be held until at least 2010.
But they will hold more talks with their neighbours on the Pacific Islands Forum over the issue.
Fiji's foreign minister Ratu Nailatikau said: "This government is committed to the holding of parliamentary elections."
