LUNCH was a formal affair at the Tulliallan Police Training College in Fife in 1960.
Not only was there waitress service from "nippies" dressed in traditional maids uniforms, but silver candelabra graced the tables as sergeants sat down to dine.
Built for Admiral Lord Keith, one-time senior officer of Lord Nelson, Tulliallan Castle also provided a base for the Free Polish Forces during the Second World War before being bought in 1950 by the then Scottish Home Department to provide a central training base for all Scotland's police forces.
