Chris Hughton believes he can turn Albion’s fortunes around in one transfer window.
And he has welcomed the high expectations of fans.
Hughton has a hectic summer to transform Albion from Championship strugglers back into a team pushing for promotion.
He has cited champions Bournemouth, surprise play-off contenders Brentford and the top six near-miss by Wolves as examples that progress in the short-term is feasible.
Hughton told The Argus: “You have to think it is. You’ve only got to look at what Bournemouth have achieved, what Brentford have achieved.
“Brentford have done it coming up from another division, Wolves have done it coming up from another division.
“Anything is possible but you have got to have the mentality to do it and you have also got to have the players to be able to do it.”
Supporters are disgruntled after Albion’s slump from consecutive top six finishes to 20th.
Hughton, who took charge on New Year’s Eve and steered them to narrow safety, said: “Any job you take is a difficult job and there will be expectations here because of what the club has achieved in the two seasons before.
“I welcome that and if there is a real disappointment or frustration from the supporters I don’t mind that.
“If you want to try to achieve something you have to look for better and put pressure on yourself, the players and the club.”
