Albion striker Shamir Fenelon is looking for a new club – less than a year after being given the chance of a lifetime.

Fenelon is among six under-21 players being let go by the Seagulls.

He is joined by Bradley Barry, George Cole, Cameron Wiltshire, Danny Pappoe and Jimmy Muitt.

But goalkeeper Harry Doherty, defenders Tom Dallison and Rob Hunt, midfielders Jesse Starkey and Jeffrey Monakana and forward Jason Davis have all had their deals extended until the end of next season.

Fenelon made his senior debut in the opening day defeat by Sheffield Wednesday last August after a productive pre-season under Sami Hyypia. It turned out to be his only start for the club.

The six being kept on have yet to make Albion debuts but Monakana made ten substitute appearances for Aberdeen in the SPL on loan and Doherty has played for Republic of Ireland under-19s.

Academy manager manager John Morling said: “The group that has been retained have shown us enough progression over the past twelve months to warrant a new deal and all six have earned their extensions.

“We feel there is more to come from these players and now it is down to them to make the most of the opportunity and continue their development.”
