Albion are unlikely to receive a quick answer in their quest to sign Sergi Enrich.

The Seagulls are one of seven Championship clubs to have made a move for the Spanish second division striker, according to his agent.

But he last night told the Argus Enrich was happy to take his time, with the league season still in full swing for his club Numancia.

Enrich’s representative said: “We are waiting. Nothing has changed. We also have interest in the first division here.”

Numancia still have four rounds of their league season to play.

Meanwhile Albion striker Chris O’Grady remains high on the wish list at Sheffield United, even though one of their recent loan signings has suddenly become available.

Steve Davies, the man who helped United to the League One play-off semi-finals, has been let go by Blackpool.

The Seasiders have opted not to activate a clause which would have kept the former Bristol City man with them next season.

Blades boss Nigel Clough is keen to add experience to his young squad and, while he would not be unhappy with Davies, is particularly keen on O’Grady.

Clough said: "We don't need any more youngsters. We've got enough of those already and good ones too.

"We just want established, experienced professionals.

"We need some of that edge, as it were."

The Albion striker impressed those within the club with the way he battled through some adversity and played more regular football in the second half of the campaign.

But he was still limited to just one Championship goal – from the penalty spot.
