Derek Adams has been confirmed as Plymouth Argyle’s new manager – ahead of Albion coach Nathan Jones.

The two men were believed to have been the outstanding candidates to succeed John Sheridan at Home Park.

Adams has an impressive track record in Scotland, including two divisional titles and a Scottish Cup final appearance with Ross County.

He is also a former Scottish manager of the year.

But sources in the West Country believe Jones to have also been a strong candidate who impressed the hierarchy at Argyle.
