Liam Rosenior reckons he can help Albion do a Hull by defying the odds to gain promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

The versatile full-back signed for the Seagulls last night on a free transfer until June 2018 after relegated Hull released him at the end of the season.

He helped the Tigers, early visitors to the Amex on September 12, up to the top flight as outsiders during his spell at the KC Stadium and is aiming for a repeat with the Seagulls.

Rosenior, 30, said: "When I was at Hull we got promoted when we were 50-1 at the start of the season to go up. At the start of that season we fancied ourselves as much as anyone else and when you are confident, work hard and have ambition then great things can be achieved.

"I am here now not just to sit back and relax but to try and make that happen with this club.

"The ambition and the potential of the club attracted me. I have played at the stadium and it is fantastic but when you come to the training ground and you see all the work that goes in, not just at a first team level but at academy level as well, this club will be successful.

"That is obviously down to the chairman and it is great that I can hopefully be a part of that. I have no doubts whatsoever that in the future this club will be in the Premier League and hopefully I will be a part of that."

Rosenior was encouraged to join Albion by dad Leroy, the former West Ham and Fulham striker turned BBC Football League pundit who came close to managing the Seagulls when he was in charge of Torquay.

Albion boss Chris Hughton was a team-mate of Rosenior senior at Upton Park.

Rosenior junior said: "My dad was a massive role model for me growing up and when someone of his experience and someone who has worked as the manager as he has tells me to go and sign that told me everything I needed to know.

"Football is a small industry and my dad played with Chris at West Ham and as soon as my dad found out that he was interested in signing me he said he would have driven me here himself, so that speaks volumes.

"Every place the manager has been at he has done a great job and conducts himself with respect and he is someone I can learn off."
