Chris Hughton admitted the final touch was missing in his side's latest friendly run out.

But he was reasonably happy with much of what he saw in a 0-0 draw at Lewes.

The Seagulls went closest to a breakthrough in front of 2,075 fans at the Dripping Pan with home goalkeeper Dan Hutchins denying James Tilley in the first half and Jeffrey Monakana and Adam Chicksen after the break.

Chris O'Grady shot high and wide when well placed in the first half and sub Joe Ward sent a late chance narrowly wide.

Hughton said: "These games are never easy. The most important is that you are able to get to a certain fitness level and you are able to go away with no injuries.

"The pleasing things is we were able to come to a local football club which has strong connections with Brighton - and it was a good run out.

"But, as always, you want to be scoring goals. We were solid enough as a team and had good opportunities."

Recent signing Niki Maenpaa played the first 45 minutes and Hughton started with what looked a largely second string team.

It was essentially a development line-up for the final half hour after wholesale changes.

The Seagulls boss confirmed young goalkeeper Christian Walton is likely to go out on loan.

Walton is believed to be close to completing a switch to Bury but no transfer has yet been finalised.
