Chesterfield manager Dean Saunders says no fresh offers have been received for Sam Morsy, who has been linked with Albion and other Championship clubs.

The 23-year-old holding midfielder, who skippers the Spireites, has also reportedly attracted attention from Cardiff, MK Dons and Bristol City.

Morsy led Chesterfield to the League One play-offs last season before they lost to Preston.

He was their player of the year in 2013-14 and has started this season with two goals in five outings.

Albion recently bought centre-half Connor Goldson, 22, from League One Shrewsbury.

Boss Chris Hughton said today: "Being able to bring through young players is a really important factor in what we are trying to do here.

"There will be some names that are fact, an awful lot of names that are speculation or just one of numerous young players that we've looked at.

"Certainly it's an aim of this club to bring through and develop good young players."

Inigo Calderon is an early doubt for Albion's top-of-the-table clash at Ipswich on Saturday.

The long-serving Spanish full-back, recalled as Hughton made ten changes at Walsall on Tuesday, was sore after the exit from the Capital One Cup and missed training today.
