Tomer Hemed scored one and optimistically claimed another as Albion went top of the Championship in style today.

The Seagulls enjoyed an outstanding 3-2 win away to previous leaders Ipswich to make it 13 points from five games going into the international break.

Kazenga LuaLua fired them ahead with an angled drive on ten minutes and won the free-kick from which they doubled their lead two minutes later.

Dale Stephens curled the ball goalwards and it seemed to go straight in, although Hemed suggested he got a touch.

Stephens almost killed the contest on 50 minutes when he shot against the post.

But Freddie Sears dragged Town back into the game from close range and half-time sub David McGoldrick converted what looked a harsh spot kick awarded against Bruno.

Albion, though, were always a menace going forward against a jittery home defence.

And Hemed rose to head what turned out to be the 67th-minute winner from LuaLua’s cross.

Bobby Zamora got on for the closing stages but hardly touched the ball as others took the glory on a magnificent afternoon for the Seagulls.
