Chris Hughton praised Albion’s counter-attacking and character after a 3-2 win at Ipswich today.

But he admitted he felt they might have scored more goals.

The Seagulls saw their first two-goal lead since March wiped out in a hectic opening to the second half.

But Tomer Hemed nodded a classy winner to send them back to the top of the still very early Championship table.

Hughton admitted he was concerned when the hosts got back on level terms.

He said: “I didn’t at that point feel it was a true reflection of the game but I thought we showed great character to come back.

“It’s very difficult when you are away from home and all the momentum is with the home side.

“On most occasions that team will go on and win.

“I thought we showed great character, our counter-attacking was very good today and I thought there were times when we could have made it a little more comfortable for ourselves.”

Ipswich suffered their first home defeat in nine fixtures.

Hughton added: “These are a very good side. I don’t see them losing too many games here.

“But we came here in good form, which helped.”
