Albion have stepped up their persistent interest in Dagenham and Redbridge winger Jodi Jones.
The Seagulls are close to a deal for the 18-year-old, according to a South London source.
The Argus first revealed Albion were targeting Jones at the end of the August transfer window.
A deal was not struck then but they have continued to monitor the versatile teenager, who has scored three goals in 17 outings for League Two Dagenham this season.
Championship rivals Charlton are reportedly among several other clubs who have also been tracking Jones.
He is a product of the renowned junior side Senrab which launched the career of Albion striker Bobby Zamora.
Jones is regarded by the Seagulls as one for the future, rather than immediate first team material, so a potential deal is unlikely to be concluded until January.
