Liam Rosenior is set to become the latest addition to Albion's long-term casualty list.
The Seagulls are assessing the extent of right knee damage sustained by Rosenior, who was stretchered off in the first half against Birmingham after Dutchman Maikel Kieftenbeld accidentally kicked him.
Boss Chris Hughton told The Argus: "We will find out but it's his knee. How bad I don't know. We'll assess that. Is it a concern? Yes, because it's an area that we are quite light, but we have to adjust the best way we can."
Rosenior has been switched from right midfield to deputise for first choice left-back Gaetan Bong, sidelined last month by a thigh injury and out until January. Winger Kazenga LuaLua (groin) has been out since September and striker Sam Baldock (thigh) is also a longer term victim.
Hughton said of the left-back crisis: "It was an area we did try to strengthen and in the end there weren't many available for loan. It wasn't a question of not trying."
Inigo Calderon, who replaced Rosenior against Birmingham, will deputise during his absence.
