James Wilson has been backed to make rival defences sick again for Albion after returning to the scoresheet and full health.

The striker on loan from Manchester United ended a seven-game goal drought with the winner against Huddersfield at the Amex last time out.

Wilson, on target twice in his first three appearances, was unwell over the Christmas period.

Taken off at half-time at Brentford on Boxing Day, he vomited on the pitch before the home defeat by Wolves on New Year's Day.

Bobby Zamora, replaced by Wilson against Huddersfield, said: "He was chomping at the bit. He has been ill but he is over that now.

"He may not be the big target man or a player with complete flair but he certainly knows where the goal is. That's what you need."

Manager Chris Hughton believes Wilson will benefit from his spell with Albion next season when he is back at Old Trafford.

Hughton said: "This is very much part of his development. He has come from a technically very good environment but not been involved so much to coming here and really seeing and feeling what the Championship is.

"They are hard-fought, aggressive games and he is getting the experience of that.

"There are times when you can use him, times when you have got to leave him out. Times when the spaces open up he can benefit from it.

"At the moment I think it's worked out very well, trying to get that balance with him.

"He'll know what the Championship is about now. There have been some tough games, up at Rotherham against two uncompromising centre-halves, so all of that is great experience for him. At the moment I think we're using him quite wisely."
