Albion expect to have Bobby Zamora back in contention for a place on the bench at MK Dons on Saturday.

The veteran marksman missed Tuesday’s 1-0 win against Reading at the Amex after suffering a knock in training.

Boss Chris Hughton said: “Bobby was a little bit sore but we are hoping he will be available. It’s certainly nothing serious and we’ve got used to it with Bobby, where some weeks he is better than others.”

Albion have won three games, drawn two and kept five clean sheets in a row in the league for the first time in 12 years since losing 4-1 at Cardiff.

Hughton said: “It has been a very good response. We’ve had probably a couple of games all season where I could fault the application of the players.”

Middlesbrough or Hull, who face each other, will move back above the Seagulls into second tomorrow night but Hughton is confident his squad will hold their nerve as the promotion race reaches its climax.

He said: “We’ve got some experience and also experienced players not playing, people like Calderon and our captain Gordon Greer. I haven’t sensed anybody getting carried away at any stage this season.”
