Albion marksman Tomer Hemed is happy with his debut season in English football.

The substitute scored both goals in Saturday’s win at MK Dons to take his tally to 13, six clear of Bobby Zamora and joint sixth in the Championship list.

Hemed, signed from Spanish side Almeria in the summer, told The Argus: “I’m happy with what I have done until now in my first season. It is not easy to come from a different league and different football.

“Now is the most important time. I need to keep working hard until the end of the season. I am never looking for numbers of goals. I just want to help the team to win and to score as many as I can.

“Always when I start or come from the bench I do my best. It happened against Charlton (December), I scored the winning goal from the bench.”

Hemed is on international duty with Albion team-mate Beram Kayal and Israel legend Yossi Benayoun for a friendly in Croatia this evening.

“He (Benayoun) is a very special player for all of us in Israel,” Hemed said. “Everyone knows what he has done in his career in England. I’m happy he has been recalled.”
