Jiri Skalak has thanked Albion team mate Beram Kayal for setting up for an important strike.
The Czech star scored for the second successive match with the goal which restored his side’s lead at Charlton.
It was not as spectacular as his goal-of-the-season contender against QPR in midweek.
But it was still a fine finish – and probably more important as it restored his side’s lead at the Valley.
Skalak said: It was good work by Beram. He committed two players and passed to me.
“I felt I would score. I just concentrated on the back post.
“It’s good goal and I am happy for me, all of the club and the fans.
“It was an important goal as well. And it didn’t really matter who scored it – me or any other player.”
Skalak recognised that Charlton had their moments in attack but he also felt Albion could have scored more.
He added: “The second half was crazy because there were more chances both for Brighton and Charlton.
“I’m happy with the win – and to score. Now it’s two games we must win and we are up.”
