Gordon Greer has hailed his chairman’s approach to the quest for Premier League football.

Now he wants to help turn Tony Bloom’s ambitions into reality.

The Championship is a financial jungle as teams chase the millions on offer in the top flight.

While Albion run at a substantial annual loss, the financial gamble backed by Bloom appears to be a calculated one.

Greer is appreciative of the efforts made to get stadium and training ground up to elite standard while also investing in the squad.

The Seagulls skipper said: “Promotion would mean everything for the club.

“It is built for the Premier League.

“The chairman has gone about it the right way. He has got the infrastructure in place.

“It’s not easy with the money that comes down from the Premier League and the parachute payments.

“They (Bloom and the directors) have done it on a tighter budget and we have got a good squad of players.

“Hopefully it will be our time and it would be fantastic for all the people connected with the club.”

Greer is refusing to be downcast after seeing automatic promotion slip from Albion’s clutches.

He said: “When you meet people in the street, everybody is cheering us on so hopefully we can do it.

“We’ve got another great opportunity now so we will just be focussing on that.”
