Steve Sidwell has told Albion to be proud of their efforts last night.
But he fears it will tough for them to lift themselves after a promotion near miss.
The Seagulls threw everything at Sheffield Wednesday, notably in a pulsating first-half.
The vastly experienced Sidwell said: “We couldn’t have done any more, especially in the first half.
“I’ve never been involved in a first half like it. We took the game to them and everyone can hold their heads up and be proud of themselves, not just today but for the whole season.
“We have pushed the top two and now Sheffield Wednesday, who have gone into the final, to the very brink.”
Asked how Albion will respond, he added: “It will be tough. I don’t think you can get any closer.
“But we are professionals. we dust ourselves down and regroup.”
