Albion wideman Jiri Skalak played his first minutes of Euro 2016 today.

But he had left the action by the time his Czech Republic side staged a dramatic comeback to force a 2-2 draw with Croatia.

Skalak was substituted in the 67th minute with his nation 2-0 down in St Etienne. He played wide right in a 4-2-3-1 but saw little of the ball and was not among their free-kick takers.

The Czechs were second best for much of the contest and trailed to a superb Ivan Perisic strike at the break.

They were fairly bright early in the second half with Skalak combining with right-back Pavel Kaderabek and getting in a couple of crosses which were cleared.

But, after Ivan Rakitic doubled the Croatian lead, Skalak was replaced by Josef Sural as part of a double switch. The Seagulls man did not appear to be in any way injured.

Milan Skoda pulled a goal back with a super header, Tomas Necid rifled home a stoppage time penalty and, incredibly, the Czechs were pushing for a winner at the end.

The Czechs probably still need to win against Turkey in Lens on Tuesday evening to go through to the last 16.
