Albion have given Jiri Skalak a holiday to recover from the Euro finals.

The Czech Republic winger will not report back with the rest of the squad on Monday for the start of pre-season.

And he will not be on their training camp in Tenerife from July 3 to 9.

Boss Chris Hughton has allowed Skalak extra-time until July 14 to re-charge his batteries.

That is two days before Albion’s opening pre-season friendly at Crawley.

Skalak suffered disappointment with the Czech Republic in France.

They failed to qualify for the last 16, despite recovering from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with dark horses Croatia in the only match he started.

They were beaten by Spain and went home early after also losing their final game in the group against Turkey this week.

Skalak’s extended break still gives him more than three weeks before Albion launch their Championship campaign at Derby County on August 6.

They also have friendlies against Fulham, Luton, Stevenage and Oxford, together with a showpiece pipeopener at the Amex against attractive foreign opposition yet to be confirmed the weekend before the Derby match.
