Albion boss Chris Hughton believes Glenn Murray will get a lift from his instant return to goalscoring form.

Murray, re-signed on loan from Bournemouth for the season, launched his second spell with the Seagulls with a goal just three minutes after coming on in the 4-0 friendly victory at Crawley (see link below).

Hughton told The Argus: "That's what they do, strikers. I can remember last pre-season Tomer's (Hemed) first goal of pre-season, it means something to them.

"It doesn't matter how they come or where they come, they are always great value to them."

Murray, who linked up with Albion on their training camp in Tenerife after completing his switch, said: "I've just got to keep that going through pre-season and then into the season, hopefully.

"It feels good to be back. Tenerife was a help, spending five or six days with the boys, getting to know them.

"I feel as though I am already integrating into the squad nicely. They are a good group.

"I'm probably catching up a little bit (fitness). They had a head start but I feel as though I am getting there."

Irish midfielder Richie Towell was missing at Crawley due to a minor knee injury.

Murray was not the only striker off to a flyer with his new club in a friendly.

Chris O'Grady, loaned by the Seagulls for the season to Burton Albion, scored twice in the opening ten minutes of his debut in a 3-0 win for the Championship newcomers at home to Stoke.
