Albion goalkeepers David Stockdale and Niki Maenpaa have been hailed as the No.1 pair in the Championship.

Goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts says he would not swap the in-form duo for anyone else.

Stockdale is expected to regain the gloves from Finnish rival Maenpaa at Reading today after missing Tuesday’s win over Rotherham with a shin injury.

Between them they have gone nearly six hours without conceding a goal so far this season.

Stockdale kept clean sheets against Derby and Nottingham Forest before the injury forced him off in the closing stages.

Maenpaa has done the same against Rotherham and Colchester in the League Cup.

Roberts told The Argus: “There are a lot of good goalkeepers in the Championship but no, I wouldn’t (swap them).

“I think they are proving it with their performances really and, as much as that, the dynamic we’ve got every day.

“One pushes the other. Niki really pushed Stocko last year and I thought that raised Stocko’s level.

“I was really pleased with him but we need to keep that going.

“It’s no good resting on our laurels but I wouldn’t swap them at the moment.”
