Chris Hughton has told of his delight for debutant full-back Rob Hunt.

The youngster from Essex got on for his first taste of Championship action during the 1-0 win at Burton today.

He seized his chance with skipper Bruno suffering from some muscle tightness in the third game in eight days.

Bruno had alerted Hughton of the potential problem, ensuring Hunt was on the bench as full-back cover.

Hughton said: “I’m pleased for Rob because he has made really good progress since he has come into the first team group.

“Sometimes these openings happen. Liam Rosenior picked up an injury and of course Liam and Bruno are very much the competition for that right-back position.

“Hunty really enjoyed it and really stepped up to the mark. I’m very pleased for him.”

Hunt is likely to get another chance to shine when Albion ring the changes for the League Cup tie at home to Reading on Tuesday.

Hughton said: “We’ll approach that as we have done in the last two rounds. We will certainly make a lot of changes.”
