Seb Pocognoli will make his debut for Albion in the League Cup against Reading at the Amex tomorrow night.
The full-back on loan from West Brom for the rest of the season has been confirmed by Chris Hughton as a starter in the third round tie.
Ex-Belgian international Pocognoli has been working on his fitness since signing towards the end of the transfer window following limited game time at West Brom.
Hughton told The Argus "He will start and we will gauge his fitness. He has trained very well since he's been here.
"He had some games pre-season for West Brom but would be behind most of the lads as regards the amount of games that he's played.
"It will be a good game for him to come into. I expect it to be a very competitive game. We will get a good opinion of him once we see him in the game but he's an experienced player. I'd expect him to be fine."
The defence will also include fit-again central pair Connor Goldson and Uwe Huenemeier along with Rob Hunt, who made his League debut as a second half sub in Saturday's 1-0 win at Burton.
Steve Sidwell and Ollie Norwood are poised to partner each other in centre-midfield against their old club.
Hughton said: "Apart from Ritchie Towell (knee), Kazenga LuaLua (knee) and Liam Rosenior (ankle), it's a fully fit and competitive squad. I will certainly be making a lot of changes."
