Two-goal Glenn Murray has hailed the Premier League class of Albion team-mate Anthony Knockaert.

The Frenchman dazzled again against Barnsley, helping set up Murray’s first in a stunning counter-attack the length of the pitch and tormenting the visitors with his trickery.

Murray said: “He is just a pleasure to play with – and a pleasure to watch. The way he plays with players is just frightening sometimes. I think he is fantastic.

“Teams have become more aware of him and doubled up on him. That takes a man away from someone else and he can handle two men as well, which is a compliment to him. He would suit the Premier League.”

Murray, re-signed on loan from Bournemouth for the season, headed his second from a Jiri Skalak free-kick and has already scored five goals.

He told The Argus: “I’m not a striker who is going to get the ball down and dribble past one or two. I’m a striker that relies on the wingers and I’d like to think if I get some good service into the box, I can score some goals.

“On another day I could have had a hat-trick but we have to look at the positives and that’s three wins on the spin in the league.

“That sets us up for a big week and two big away games before the international break.”

Murray is impressed by the manner in which his colleagues have shrugged off last season’s promotion near-miss as they head for Ipswich tomorrow night and play-off conquerors Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

“The lads have done fantastic by swallowing what happened last year,” he said. “I watched from afar and it was bitterly disappointing and unlucky for them.

“But they have picked themselves up tremendously and they are getting on with the job in hand.”
