Chris Hughton has described Albion’s late setback as “incredibly disappointing” after they dropped points to Preston.

The Seagulls conceded a Simon Makienok header deep into added time in their 2-2 draw at the Amex.

They had fought back from a goal down to take the lead through Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray.

Albion boss Hughton said: “I thought we were well worthy of the 2-1 lead.

“To concede so late is incredibly disappointing and a real opportunity missed.

“The first goal we conceded is a poor goal. We are up against a team who play a system, who work very hard and have got some good quality in what they do.

“You can’t give any team in this division an opportunity.

“We knew we had to get back from that which we did – and I thought the two goals we scored were really good goals.

“An individual from Glenn and a team goal for the first goal.

“I was really happy with the second-half performance with regard to what we did on the ball. But you have got to see the game out.

Albion celebrate Glenn Murray's goal

“They bring the big lad on up front and you can’t allow them to have that sort of ammunition to play balls into him.”

Hughton revealed Tomer Hemed missed the game due to a problem at the top of his thigh.
