BOSS Chris Hughton says Albion have put pressure on themselves to beat Wolves at the Amex tomorrow night after throwing away two home points against Preston.

Towering substitute Simon Makienok headed Preston level in stoppage time in the 2-2 draw at the Amex.

It was the second time Albion shot themselves in the foot.

Jordan Hugill was gifted an early breakthrough for the visitors by sloppy defending involving keeper David Stockdale and skipper Bruno before a powerful second-half performance with goals by Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray seemed set to secure the points.

Hughton told The Argus: “Every opportunity we miss, particularly at home, puts more pressure on the next game to get a result.

“There’s no doubt it was two points lost. The games are tough enough as it is. You know you are going to have a lot of tough away games, so from a winning position and a fairly comfortable winning position, to not have won the game makes it even more disappointing.”

Hughton was particularly annoyed by Preston’s last-gasp equaliser by the 6ft 7in Makienok.

He said: “We conceded a poor goal in the first half. I was more disappointed with the second one than I was with the first one.

“Not because of the type of goal it was, just because of the timing. I thought at that time we have got to make sure we manage the game the best way we can and that means not giving opportunities.

“Their big lad had gone into the box, we knew he could be a threat, and our game management before that should have been better.”

Dale Stephens and Jiri Skalak, both on the bench versus Preston, are in contention for returns to the starting line-up against Wolves.
