Albion striker Tomer Hemed has revealed he could end his career back in Spain.

The Israeli international played in La Liga for Mallorca and Almeria before joining the Seagulls two summers ago.

Hemed returns to Spain with his country in March, as they are in the same World Cup qualifying group.

The 29-year-old has suggested he could end his playing days there.

Hemed said: "It was very special for me to go there and play against some of the best players in the world.

"It was an amazing four years for me. It will be very special to go back and play in Spain against many players that I used to play against in the league.

"The life there was very nice, the weather was great. Maybe I will finish my career there."

Israel have started well in a difficult group, which also includes Italy.

An opening 3-1 defeat away to the Azzurri was followed by 2-1 victories over Macedonia and Liechtenstein, Hemed providing three of the goals.

Their next qualifier is away to Albania tomorrow, a match switched from the Loro Borici Stadium in Shkoder to the capital Tirana for security reasons after Albanian security forces foiled an ISIS terrorist plot against the Israeli side.

Hemed said in an interview with FIFA.com: "They're a very strong team. We need to be ready for a tough game, to go there to try to do our best.

"Of course, we want to get three points, but in the end we need to be ready.

"First of all, we're thinking about third place - and of course, we are dreaming of doing better than this - but for now we can’t think any higher than that."

Israel have not reached the World Cup finals since their debut in Mexico in 1970.

The Argus: Their tough group reduces their chances of reaching Russia 2018 but Hemed's Albion and Israel team-mate Beram Kayal (above), currently sidelined after ankle surgery, remains optimistic.

He said: "Anything is possible in football. We just need to believe. We have seen a lot of examples. Iceland in the Euros, they did well and surprised everyone.

"We dream of being a part of the World Cup and in time things could change – one result in football can change everything in the group. We hope that one day we will be there."
