Albion are prepared for more loan enquiries about their bright youngsters after making Checkatrade Trophy progress.

The Seagulls have been drawn away to Wimbledon in the second round after their 1-0 midweek win over Leyton Orient.

Wimbledon are pushing for promotion in League One and the trip offers Albion a big challenge – and a big chance to show what they can do.

Trophy matches are a magnet to scouts and Albion development boss Simon Rusk revealed there had already been interest in some of his players.

He believes more will now follow after midweek events at the Amex.

Albion previously set up the chance of qualification from their group by drawing at League Two outfit Stevenage and then winning a shoot out.

Rusk said: “I’d like to think that two or three of our youngsters at least proved (on Tuesday) they could go and have an impact in a League Two side and hold their own place.

“It’s another opportunity for other clubs to have a look at players in a competitive environment.

“We have had a couple from the last game or two where people expressed an interest.”

Christian Walton (Luton), Tom Dallison (Cambridge) and Jordan Maguire-Drew (Dagenham) are currently gaining experience on loan to professional clubs although Dallison has been out of the league line-up in recent weeks.
