Solly March is prepared to be patient in his bid for a first team start.

The young Albion winger believes he can give Chris Hughton options when thrown back into the Championship firing line.

March, exactly a year on from his England under-21 start at the Amex under Gareth Southgate, is hoping for a first team place in the coming weeks after knee and shin injuries.

But he will also take chances to add to his three recent 90-minute outings with the development squad. He said: “I still want to get more minutes.

“It will be great to get a first team start in the next month or two but I’ll have to be playing well.

“For now, I’m probably looking to get more minutes and build my fitness.”

March, who got on briefly in the 2-0 win at Bristol City nine days ago, could face a battle to make the 18 against Aston Villa on Friday with Anthony Knockaert likely to be back.

Jamie Murphy started at Ashton Gate and Jiri Skalak will return to the squad after the Czech Republic’s friendly against Denmark at his old home ground in Mlada Boleslav tomorrow.

March said: “Kaz (LuaLua) is coming back as well so we have five good options on the wing.

“Last year I played more on the right but I would like to think I can play anywhere along the front except as a main striker. I can play a few positions.”

Seagulls striker Tomer Hemed had a 20-minute outing off the bench for Israel as they won 3-0 in Albania on Saturday and is now free to return to his club.

Hemed, who went into the match with a record of 16 goals in 26 internationals, was surprisingly left out of the starting XI for the World Cup qualifier. He scored three goals in two games on his previous trip to play for his country but returned with a thigh problem which ruled him out for his club.
