Sam Baldock has backed himself to show he is good enough for the Premier League if Albion achieve their big dream.

The striker missed out on the top flight when West Ham sold him to Bristol City after they were promoted in 2011-12.

Baldock, who equalised before setting up the winner for partner Glenn Murray in the 2-1 home win against Fulham, said: “I’m going to back myself to do it, obviously.

“I don’t know, because I’ve never been there but comparing it to the teams that have gone up in the last few seasons that we have played against, then yes probably.

“And hopefully we will be able to tell from August.

“It’s a dream growing up as a kid, you want to be a Premier League player, so we have got to give ourselves the opportunity to get there first and then see what happens come the summer and come the start of next season.

“But we have got to get there first, it’s far from over.”

Baldock’s volley from outside the box was his sixth goal of the season, two more already than he scored in each of his first two seasons with Albion.

He also supplied the cross for Murray, above, to volley in his 11th of the campaign, all at the Amex.

Baldock vowed: “We are far from finished. Glenn’s probably having his best season at this point too and he’s far from finished as well.

“We know it’s going to take every game and to keep going until the end.”

Lee Peltier is suspended for Albion’s visit to Wales on Saturday after a red card in Cardiff’s 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
