Albion boss Chris Hughton believes Garry Monk is bringing the good times back to Leeds United.

Hughton is impressed by the job Monk did at Swansea and now at Elland Road.

Monk has lifted Leeds to fourth in the table after taking charge in June.

Tonight's visit to the Amex by the Yorkshiremen is exactly a year on from his sacking by Swansea, when the Welshmen were 15th in the Premier League. They've had three managers since then and are now bottom.

Hughton told The Argus: "It's not for me to comment on the rights and wrongs but I thought he did a very good job at Swansea, really enjoyed the way they played, getting the best out of the team.

"When you are Swansea in the Premier League you are going to be coming up against teams that on paper have better players. I thought amongst all of that he did a very good job, certainly when you consider it was his first managerial job.

"To go straight in at the deep end to Premier League football, I think shows a lot about the individual.

"There's always been a feel about Leeds and everyone has been waiting for them to start approaching the levels of the past.

"This is one of their best periods. They've got a lot of stability in the team at the moment and an excellent manager. He's very much putting his stamp on the team, a young side with lots of enthusiasm, and at the moment he is getting the best out of them.

"We'll have to perform at a good level to win."

The Argus: Hughton has urged on-loan Seb Pocognoli (above) to seize his chance at left-back on his first home league start in place of the banned Gaetan Bong.

"Seb has trained very well," he said. "It's a real opportunity for him."
