LIAM ROSENIOR is ready to push for a return to Albion’s promotion challenge after coming through the worst injury of his career.

The utility player made a pre-planned 45-minute comeback from a severe ankle injury in the first half of last night’s 3-0 exit from the Checkatrade Trophy for the under-21s at Coventry.

Rosenior, sidelined since August by a fracture and ligament damage, said: “It’s great to be back out there.

“It’s been a long time and the injury was the most serious of my career by far. The biggest thing is being back out there on the pitch. Then you get a true idea and it felt great.

“I felt fit, strong. There was no pain from the ankle, which was the biggest obstacle for me. Now I can look forward. I think that is the biggest hurdle for me cleared.

“I can finally look forward to being part of the squad again and helping us achieve what we want.”

Boss Chris Hughton and his No.2 Paul Trollope were at the Ricoh Arena to watch Rosenior’s return.

The 32-year-old could get 90 minutes in Albion’s FA Cup fourth round trip to Lincoln or Ipswich later this month following Saturday’s 2-0 victory in the third round against MK Dons at the Amex.

Rosenior said: “I was delighted we won that game for selfish reasons as well as for the club. It could be that game, it could be sooner or later, the most important thing is to be available when ever the manager needs me.

“The boys are doing so well and that takes the pressure off. I remember this time last year being out and we were going through a difficult time. Thankfully this year we haven’t had that yet.

“When ever the manager sees fit, hopefully I can build up some more fitness with under-23 games, but the way I am I’d put myself forward if there was a game tomorrow.”
