Chris Hughton has told of his shock at the death of former England boss Graham Taylor, 72.
Taylor managed the national team from 1990 until 1993. He was a club manager at Lincoln, Watford, Aston Villa and Wolves and, in recent years, a pundit on the BBC and BT Sport.
The Albion boss heard of his death shortly before speaking to the media today.
Hughton said: "I'm very shocked. I've spoken to Graham on numerous occasions, played against his teams. Very well respected football man who reached great levels.
"My thoughts very much go out to his family. He was an incredible football man.
"He transformed Watford to the club they are now. They honoured him with a stand (naming) and he would be very proud about where they are now in the Premier League."
A statement from Taylor's family read: "With the greatest sadness, we have to announce that Graham passed away at his home early this morning of a suspected heart attack. The family are devastated by this sudden and totally unexpected loss."
