Beram Kayal will not be involved in Albion's game at Preston on Saturday.

The trip to Deepdale comes just too soon for the Israeli midfielder, who made a goalscoring return in the FA Cup against MK Dons at the Amex last Saturday from a broken ankle which had sidelined him since September.

Boss Chris Hughton, asked if Kayal will be in the squad travelling to Lancashire, said: "No, but he's very close. He completed 75 minutes. I'm quite sure we could have played him for longer, but it was the right thing to do. He is very close and really pushing."

On-loan West Brom left-back Seb Pocognoli (below) The Argus: will be missing from the squad for Preston for the fourth game running because of a groin injury.

"We're sure that he will miss Saturday and hopefully be available for Sheffield Wednesday (home January 20)," Hughton said. "We were hoping it was going to be this Saturday, but he just hasn't made it."

Liam Rosenior (below) is earmarked for another run-out in the under-23s against West Ham at the Lancing training complex on Monday night (7pm).

The Argus: The utility player returned from more than four months out with an ankle fracture and ligament damage in the first half of Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy exit at Coventry.

Hughton said: "We have another under-23 game here on Monday and hopefully he can have some involvement in that as well."
