BOSS Chris Hughton would be “comfortable” if Albion cannot add to their firepower in the January window.

The Seagulls want competition and cover for Sam Baldock in the secondary striker role but Hughton would be content with the status quo.

He told The Argus: “I would be comfortable. I have a responsibility, there’s no doubt, to be as strong as we can come the end of the window.

“Would I want to do something? Yes I would, but it would be very minimal that’s for sure.

“If we’re not able to do that with the right individual, we have got a very competitive squad.

“Things can happen. You can go into the end of February and pick up five or six injuries.

“That can happen whether you have got a big squad or a small squad.”

Leaders Albion, the fifth highest scorers in the Championship, were interested in borrowing David Nugent from Middlesbrough, but he has made a permanent move to Derby and could make his debut at Leeds tonight.
